- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 1. Help About Vocabulary Modern ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- Vocabulary Modern is wordware which helps you learn advanced vocabulary words
- typically seen on college entrance test such as the GRE, SAT : ACT.
-
- There are 4 steps:
-
- 1. Choose a word range. There are 53 word ranges.
-
- 2. Review the Word-list. This can be done by double clicking on the word range,
- or by selecting 'Word-list' from the menubar, or by clicking the right mouse
- button to get the popup menu. Use this list of words to expose yourself to the
- range of 75 words.
-
- 3. Drill yourself by guessing words or guessing definitions. This is the main
- stage where you practice the words from memory. This is selected from the
- menubar or the popup menu on the word range using the right mouse button. Once
- you have gotten all 75 correct, the program will notify you to Quit and go to
- the test. You will notice that the word range icon has changed. You only have
- to do a few words at a time. The words you miss will recycle every 15 words or
- so.
-
- 4. Test yourself on that range. The test consists of 15 antonym questions in a
- notebook. When you select Ok, these will be tabulated in your score.
-
- You can have different people use the same program as different users.
-

-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4. Word-List Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- Selecting Word-List menubar choice will display a list fo all the words in the
- selected vocabulary word range of usually 75 words. Each word in the list has
- it's word type, a simple definition, and the word used in context. For
- pronunciations or more precise definitions consult a collegiate dictionary. It
- is a good idea to review the words of each word list before attempting drills
- or tests.
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 5. Drill Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- Drill yourself on the words only in the selected word range one by one.
-
- Guess Word A definition of a word in the word range is displayed. You guess the
- word and hit Enter or select Ok.
-
- Guess Definition A word in the word range is displayed. You guess the
- definition by typing it in the entry space and hit Enter or select Ok.
-
- After guessing, the answer, according to the word list, will show up in the
- bottom area. You decide whether or not your answer was Correct, Incorrect; or
- you can choose to Ignore it. If you select Incorrect, the word will reappear
- more frequently for you to guess. In this way you can work on the words you are
- having problems with. You may feel that your answer was sufficient or correct
- in its own way. By selecting Incorrect your score does not go down. Your score
- is only tabulated from the Tests not the Drills. You are penalized in no way
- for selecting Incorrect. You can quit at any time by selecting Quit.
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 6. Help with Antonym Test ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

- words. This should generally be the last step when working in a word range.
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 7. Scores Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- Selecting Scores menubar choice will display a window of the current user's

-
- Each question consists of a test word followed by five (5) choices. Choose the
- lettered word or phrase that is most nearly opposite in meaning to the test
- word.
-
- Since some of the questions require you to distinguish fine shades of meaning,
- be sure to consider all the choices before deciding which one is best. Choosing
